How I Found My Way to Hand-Painted Art ?

How I Found My Way to Hand-Painted Art ? - Gulyn

🌊 1. Growing up in Da Nang, Vietnam: Between movement and stillness

I was born and raised in Da Nang, Vietnam β€” a coastal city where life moves with a quiet rhythm of its own. From an early age, my world was shaped by two very different energies: the intensity of sports and the calm of art.

I spent many years as a volleyball athlete in the city. The court taught me discipline, strength, and resilience. It was fast-paced, demanding, and always in motion. But alongside that energy, there was always a quieter space within me β€” a place where I was drawn to drawing, colors, and small details.

At one point, during a volleyball match, I suffered a leg injury that forced me to stop and rest for nearly two months. It was an unexpected pause in a life that had always been moving. But in that stillness, something began to change.

During those two months, I returned to drawing more often. At first, it was simply a way to pass the time, but gradually I realized I truly wanted to do it. What started as something small became something deeper β€” a connection I hadn’t fully understood before.

Even after I recovered, that quiet space stayed with me. Painting became a way to slow down, to observe, and to express what words could not.

🎨 2. A beginning at 14, and a passion that stayed

When I was 14, I began selling my first paintings. They were simple, and I was still learning, but they were honest and made with care.

Seeing someone choose my work and take it home left a lasting impression on me. It made me realize that art could connect people in a quiet but meaningful way.

As life moved forward, sports remained an important part of who I was. But art never disappeared. It stayed with me, growing slowly and becoming clearer over time.

There was no single turning point β€” just a gradual understanding that this was something I wanted to pursue more seriously.

πŸ•ŠοΈ 3. Life now, and the making of Gulyn Studio

Today, I am a mother of two. Life is fuller now, shaped by daily responsibilities and small, meaningful moments. But within that rhythm, I continue to make space for art.

Every day, I spend around 7 to 8 hours painting. It is a commitment I keep for myself β€” a way to stay connected to what I started many years ago. It’s not always easy, but it has become a natural part of my life.

Gulyn Studio grew from that journey β€” not from a big plan, but from something consistent and real. Each hand-painted piece I create carries a part of that path, from a young girl in Da Nang to the person I am today.

It has never been about perfection.
Only about creating something honest, made by hand, and allowing it to quietly become part of someone else’s life.
